Job Title: Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the month-end close process, and assisting in managing batch plant functions and inventory across multiple locations. This role involves processing financial transactions in accordance with GAAP, contributing to process improvements, supporting operational data integrity and the annual financial audit in a construction-focused environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain accurate records of material inventory at batch plant locations.
  • Process production and usage data received from batch plant sites and support proper job cost allocation.
  • Coordinate with plant personnel to validate receipts, usage data, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist with plant site setups/closures in the system and perform inventory reconciliations.
  • Track and analyze material usage and variances from budget to improve cost control.
  • Coordinate with shop personnel to reconcile fuel inventory.
  • Compile receipts and usage data for annual purchase and consumption analysis.
  • Prepare annual dyed fuels tax report to file with State Comptroller.
  • Other Accounting Duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in construction, manufacturing, or industrial services.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
  • Ability to analyze data and resolve discrepancies across multiple departments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting/ERP software.
